Two books to tell the story of La Raia project and its unique ecosystem

Two volumes have been dedicated to La Raia’s unique ecosystem and the centrality of the landscape in the project promoted by the Rossi Cairo family: Discovering biodiversity and Nel Paesaggio – A dialogue between Remo Salvadori and Elio Franzini.

The first one, by Roberto Cottalasso, photographs the extraordinary mosaic of natural environments that is La Raia estate and describes, environment by environment, the small fauna that inhabits them, the insects and birds that populate them. A book that forms the basis of the Biodiversity Itinerary that can be travelled inside the estate. Nel Paesaggio, published on the birth of Fondazione La Raia, is the “manifesto” of the research that the Foundation has inaugurated into the Gavi landscape, a project that currently consists of eleven works, each of which opens up new readings of this corner of Piedmont.

The promotion of biodiversity is one of the values that has inspired La Raia in recent years and the commitment that drives our work every day. Discovering Biodiversity, edited by Renato Cottalasso, is a volume with a photographic apparatus of more than 200 images, which investigates the delicate intertwining of animal and plant life, the unsuspected dynamics of struggle and survival, and photographs, with great artistry, many creatures that inhabit the estate. Giorgio Rossi Cairo, president and founder of the La Raia Foundation, says: “This book is dedicated to those who love nature in all its forms: simple, complex and sometimes mysterious. It tells of biodiversity, La Raia’s added value, and how it can be pursued: in our gardens, in our cities and in our country.”

Nel Paesaggio – Dialogo tra Remo Salvadori ed Elio Franzini
