MOODCLOCK

“MOODCLOCK” by Riccardo Previdi, unveiled on 7 June 2025 in the deconsecrated church of San Sebastiano in the Borgo of Serralunga d’Alba, is a site-specific installation that engages in a playful, poetic dialogue with the medieval architecture of this small village in the Langhe.

Made up of four coloured panels mounted on the seventeenth-century bell tower, the work portrays four moods through stylised, icon-like faces, evoking the original function of clocks and sundials: marking time, replaced here by emotions.

A fifth face, turned upside down and placed on a window of Tenuta Cucco, is entitled ZEITGEIST and broadens the visual and conceptual scope of the intervention, creating a visual and symbolic link between the village, the castle and the winery.

Inspired by medieval heraldry and made with the materials and colours typical of local window shutters, MOODCLOCK anthropomorphises the architectural space, suggesting an emotional, subjective time that is closer to human experience than to technical measurement. The work reflects our need to attribute emotions to the spaces and objects, to the landscape we inhabit, in a continuous dialogue between past and present.
