MOODCLOCK
Inaugurated on 7 June 2025 in the deconsecrated Church of San Sebastiano in the village of Serralunga d’Alba, MOODCLOCK by Riccardo Previdi is a site-specific installation that enters into a playful and poetic dialogue with the medieval architecture of this small Langa town.
The work consists of four colourful panels mounted on the 17th-century bell tower, each depicting a stylised face as an emotional icon. These evoke the original function of clocks and sundials: to mark the passage of time, here reinterpreted through the representation of emotions.
A fifth face, inverted and installed in a window of Tenuta Cucco, is titled ZEITGEIST. It expands both the visual and conceptual reach of the installation, creating a symbolic connection between the village, the castle, and the winery.
Inspired by medieval heraldry and crafted using materials and colours typical of local window shutters, MOODCLOCK gives architectural space a human expression. It suggests a more emotional and subjective sense of time, one that reflects human experience rather than mechanical measurement. The work explores our innate tendency to project feelings onto spaces, objects, and landscapes, opening a continuous dialogue between past and present.
